Hello all
My name is Nathan and I am currently at my 3rd year of a 4-year Integrated Masters of Occupational Therapy course in Scotland. In 4th-year my course allows us to have an elective practice placement (April to May 2025) and we are allowed to go abroad, which I thought would be a good idea to do so in Australia, so that I can test the waters there before considering relocating as a qualified OT from/in the UK.
Since this is an elective placement I have to organise everything independently, from looking for places that support international students on practice placements, to issues surrounding visas, although I have no idea where to begin. There are only a hand full of students from my course who decide to go abroad every year (and I believe I am the only one who have expressed this interest this year) so there is little information to garner from my university. There is not many information available online for students of similar circumstances either. So if anyone, especially if you are going through a similar situation or have experienced this, can share any information/ provide any guidance about the steps I have to go through I would be very grateful.
Thank you and warm wishes
Nathan
p.s. I am also open to connect with student OTs around the world so we can share our experiences! I am contactable via my Uni email c.law3@rgu.ac.uk, cheers!
