I would to share my successful story that an American Professor quote " TOUGH OF FATHER and KIND OF MOTHER"
At the Round Table Meeting ( IPRRS 2016) held in HongKong by HKIED, During this meeting I had an opportunity to spoke a few words about the Occupational Therapy professional growth and development from my own country. According to his statement I had a chance to develop the OT student's progress in their exams with proper motivation such as ' BE KIND with the occupational therapy students in their classroom and encourage one student with be kind whenever they are not obey and not behave properly. At the end of the result I found that she become the class leader and got the distinction. Awarded the gold medal and got the central government job as an occupational therapist.
In clinically, good guidance and counselling with the patients/clients may get the positive changes in their progress. And also allow them freely in the department whether they are out patient or in patient. Additionally, to tap her/his inner strength through counseling. Build a kind rapport with the child strongly can be the results positively.
not only as a professional practitioner but as a volunteer. I have been fortunate to meet many of our colleagues throughout the world and assist in the development of this wonderful profession.
My name is Ramakrishnan, working as an occupational therapist in JIPMER Hospital. My passion is counseling and guidance. JIPMER is an institute of a national importance and this is the tertiary care hospital in this region where the people in around Tamilnadu, Andrapradesh, Telungana, Karnataka and Kerala. They come here as a reference for the treatment. JIPMER is a very big campus and the new patients to this campus, find it very difficult for the registration and for the follow-up. The registration process has become online and the most of the patients are illiterate. So they are finding it difficult for registration and for referring and going to way the various departments like medical lab technologies, pharmacy, canteen and the like.
Whenever, I have a free time I volunteer to guide the patients to their needs. I guide the patients to the registration department and from the registration department, I show them the route to the laboratory or to the pharmacy or to the canteen or to the night stay shelter. I provide all sorts of information to the patients on the facilitations are available in the Jawaharlal Nehru Postgraduate Medical Education and Research institute. So this guidance to the patients just started as the passion and slowly I have started updating my knowledge and now I provide them counseling, so most of the patients when they know that they are suffering from chronic illness they breakdown, so I provide them counseling. I give them confidence and I give them smoothening words. I give them belief that they will be cured and they will be back. So counseling and guidance to the new patients of JIPMER gives me fulfillment, satisfaction and this is a part of my daily routine apart from providing treatment to the patients referred by the orthopedicians. So I am usually oriented towards providing occupational therapy and this additional work of mine gives me a feel that I have given back to the society what I have received. Thank you
