Dear All
My name is Jan-ne Hattingh and I am a fourth-year Occupational Therapy student at the University of Cape Town. I am reaching out on behalf of my research group, which is conducting a study titled "The Emerging Role of Occupational Therapists in War-Torn Countries: Advocating for Occupational Justice."
This study focuses on the role of Occupational Therapists (OTs) working in conflict zones, with an emphasis on advocacy and occupational justice. We are particularly interested in the experiences of OTs involved in countries affected by war, conflict, and genocide. We would greatly appreciate it if you could share the attached call for participants with your network. We are looking for OTs who have worked in or with conflict-affected areas to participate in two virtual interviews. The insights gathered from this research aim to improve occupational therapy support in such environments and promote awareness of occupational justice.
The study has received approval from the University of Cape Town’s Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC Reference: 977/2024). We assure all participants that their confidentiality will be upheld, and all data will be handled ethically in line with research standards.
If you or someone in your network is interested in participating or would like further information, please contact us directly at the following emails:
• Jan-ne Hattingh: HTTJAN001@myuct.ac.za
• Saskia Jantjes: JNTSAS001@myuct.ac.za
Thank you for your consideration. Your support in reaching those with relevant experience will help us advance our research in this crucial area of Occupational Therapy.
Kind regards,
Jan-ne Hattingh
