I saw that Uruguay isn't a member of WFOT, so unsure that this would really be the right place for any authoritative information. I am interested in moving to Uruguay to continue my professional career. I am curious is anyone else has taken this path and how the process went.
Uruguay is a relatively low populated and small country with a steeply aging population and low birth rates. There should be plenty of market for OT. I do plan on improving my Spanish language skills before seeking employment. I have experience living abroad as I worked 4 years in China before I became an OT. I worked in international schools, mostly in preschool. I currently work in a hyper rural area of the US and I see 0-99+ as long as they can make it to the outpatient clinic. Most of my current patients are children, and I split time between the school, mostly the SPED preschool, and the outpatient clinic.
I am also reaching out to my state and national organization to see if it's possible to work online in the USA while living abroad if I maintain a residence in the USA.
Thank you for any insights.
