Hi everyone,
I'm an American mental health OT looking to permanently relocate to England, preferably in Southampton. I've had no luck at all finding out whether--and how--other American OT's have made the leap. I also wonder if there are opportunities for mental health OT work or if it's prohibitively competitive. I am only familiar with the American system of diagnosis (DSM). Would this be a hindrance? Is it possible to obtain sponsorship? Supposedly, BAOT has forums that address some of these issues, but I got nowhere with them and was unable to access their forums. I am newer to the profession, but have worked in mental for twenty years in many varied professional roles. Any help or perspectives would be so much appreciated. Thank you.
