My name is Bill Roberts and I am an occupational therapists and PhD student at Colorado State University in the United States. After volunteering as an OT and teaching in other countries, I have become interested in how occupational therapy is taught around the world and this has become the focus of my research.
I am very excited to learn from others' experiences in teaching occupational therapy. I hope that this forum will be a place where, as a group of OT educators, we continually build our knowledge about occupational therapy education together.

My name is Linda Robertson and I teach on an OT programme in Dunedin, New Zealand. Education is my passion and in relation to this clinical reasoning because this is basically what we are teaching our students to do. I was at a session today when someone was talking about the range of apps that are useful learning tools. So
I am interested in knowing what has been successfully used in OT programmes.

Nice meeting you on this platform, a totally new OT forum that made me sign up immediately after i saw the email tonight.
I am Tim Xu, occupational therapist from Singapore. I joined the Singapore's newest university "Singapore Institute of Technology" more than 2 years ago, and currently doing my PhD with the University of Sydney.
As we are starting our new 4-year honors degree program this September, all our OT colleagues are extremely busy with curriculum and module development at the moment.

It comes with most Samsung smart phones nowadays, it allows us to keep track of our daily physical activities
(e.g. steps, walking, running, cycling, sports, etc), diet (food and water intake), sleep, stress level, blood glucose
(manual key in), heart rate and many more. Weekly summary report will be sent to your gmail for analysis. Great apps
for monitoring our own health.

This is a great idea and thank you! I have just finished my first year as an OT educator, in an entry-level OT program in the US. I have learned a lot and hope to learn more through this forum. I am especially interested in Team Based Learning (TBL) and how we teach students to synthesize and apply what they learn.
I am so excited about this forum! I work at Otago Polytechnic in Dunedin, teaching anatomy and kinesiology for occupational therapy to first year tertiary level students.

My name is Shari Emas and I am an MSOT instructor at Stanbridge College in California. I have been a OT for over 30 years, however begun transitioning from clinical practice to academia about a year ago. I am currently a thesis advisor for small groups of students and our focus has been on utililzing technology with older adults. Thank you Tim for sharing information regarding apps that are useful for teaching our students as well. Another possible fututre research idea! Hello, I have been an OT in the USA (Indiana) for 32 years and transitioned to teaching at the University of Indianapolis in 2014. I have a lot to learn! I teach theory, neuroscience, core documents of the profession ("Intro") and ethics as part of our Issues in OT Practice series. I am interested in starting some assignments that involve international collaboration - "pen pals" or Skype opportunities so our students can learn about how OTs all over the world approach issues of occupational engagement, payment and reimbursement, cultural competence, and the like. I also would love to discuss "doing service learning right" - our College of Health Sciences has an international program in a developing country, and we want to be very careful to be collaborative with our international partners. Hello everyone! I am Lee Asuncion. I have been teaching occupational therapy at the University of the Philippines Manila - College of Allied Medical Professions since 2014. I teach both basic sciences and major courses, and my concentration is on pediatric OT. I'm also a graduate student of health professions education. I'm interested in improving fieldwork education in the Philippines (we call it internship here) and I look forward to discuss how fieldwork educators are supported in other countries.
Hello My name is Vicki Smith. My clinical practice and teaching years have been in the US. I have been an OT for 30+ years and in academia as a professor, fieldwork coordinator and division chair for about 20 years. I am now an Associate Vice President for a small college and want to continue my scholarship adventures within OT education. I have visited and toured main land China twice and am fascinated with how the profession is the same in terms of fundamental philosophies and yet very different due to cultural influences both in education and practice.
This is a great forum. I have been an educator for decades and am currently collaborating with a nursing professor on research or assignments related to building resilience in students. Your input is welcome. Naomi
Lee Asuncion.....I can share the US practice for support for fieldwork educators. The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)is a volunteer organization for the profession. It offers listservs, a standardized form for our 3-month clinical placements that most colleges and universities use and general education materials. This form is updated by the profession every few years based on national surveys of the profession by volunteers that are members of AOTA. AOTA has also initiated a volunteer supervisor training program that many colleges support and provide to their area supervisors. We do not pay supervisors or clinical sites for the internship placements however most colleges/universities provide documentation verifying that a supervisor has provided the service and this can be used to count toward required continuing education credits for licensure and certification renewal. All academic programs also have a standard requirement from ACOTE (The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education) to provide educational support to clinical supervisors in terms of knowing the colleges/universities curriculum and supporting general supervision training. This is completed at a wide variety of levels.

Hello, My name is Di Ullrich. I am developing the profession of Occupational Therapy in the country of the Republic of Kosovo. I am one of the founding educators in OT at a private University in Prishtina, Kosovo called QEAP-Heimerer. I am currently in the early stages of a PhD in OT program out of Boston University. I am looking forward to network especially with those who have been involved in coordinating and assessing practice placement modules in role emerging placement sites around the world.

I am Susan and have been qualified for over 30 years. I work part-time as a lecturer at Plymouth University in Devon South West England where we have a dynamic team and a great programme! I also do some private paediatric work mainly with children with cerebral palsy and DCD-type challenges. I have a strong interest in OT within school settings - particularly looking at ways to address the subtle unseen problems which children often experience. I teach on the Bsc(Hons) and the pre-Reg MSc course at Plymouth where we offer lots of options for further study.

My main responsibilities at the OT bachelor programme at our UAS are: topics to teach: OT with elderly people and activity and occupational analysis; other respons.: thesis supervision, fieldwork coordination and development, international coordination, and others
i'm highly interested in development of role emerging placements, strategies to enhance the quality of fieldwork, strategies of knowledge integration into practice, peerlearning in placements and collaboration with service users within the OT programm.

My name is Alexandria Simms. I am an occupational therapist and MSc student at the University of Manitoba in Canada. I have been practicing since 2004 and have worked in adolescent mental health, spinal cord injury and amputee rehabilitation, and remote area community general practice in Northern Canada. I have been a sessional instructor in the Masters of Occupational Therapy program at the University of Manitoba since 2013, teaching practice skills in group therapy and team dynamics. I am interested in learning more about strategies to apply evidence in my teaching practice, and particularly blended-learning strategies to benefit my students.
My name is Vikki Barnes-Brown and I am a lecturer and practice placement tutor at the University of Liverpool, England. My clinical background is community paediatrics. I have been teaching at the University since 2013 on the undergraduate programme. I am responsible for Year 3 practice placements and international placements/ fieldwork for students. I am particularly interested in enhancing the quality of placements and opportunities for students to go abroad to complete placements via exchange agreements with other universities.
