Hello everyone,
I work in an ICU in Toronto, and I am increasingly finding positioning of the lower extremity to prevent and manage foot drop, extensor tone, and at times inversion of the ankle, difficult. These issues are at times a result of prolonged (and sometimes necessary bed rest). For example I work with patients who are often on ECMO for a period of time, where out of bed mobilization is potentially not feasible. Therefore positioning in bed is extremely important. Does anyone have some consistently great strategies or products that they wouldn't mind sharing? Once people are cleared to mobilize out of bed, I find that easier to work with, however in bed positioning is a challenge with my population.
Thank you for any help!
Alexis
