Welcome to the Practice Forum

Welcome everyone to the Practice Forum!!!

Today we launch an exciting and innovative basis for the worldwide exchange of ideas on practice. This offers us the opportunity to teach, to learn, to share and to strive for global standards of support for our practice, wherever we are.
My name is Margarita Gonzalez and for many years I have been involved in the practice of OT in Colombia and throughout   Latin America not only as a professional practitioner but as a volunteer. I have been fortunate to meet many of our colleagues throughout the world and assist in the development of this wonderful profession. At the present time I divide my time between London and Bogota.

Please feel welcome to contribute to this forum and share your ideas for the benefit of the profession and of those we support through our practice!

Welcome!  Bienvenidos! Bienvenue! Willcommen!

HI Everyone,
I am Kit Sinclair, editor of the WFOT Bulletin and project leader for the WFOT disaster preparedness and response master project.

I am particularly interested to  hear about  occupational therapy involvement in disaster management. I will also be posting materials and information about disaster management perspectives and hope that you will join in the discussion. As we mount our online course on disaster management, we will be using this forum for sharing ideas. I am very excited to have it available.

Congratulations to WFOT for reestablishing OTION in its current form to promote sharing and learning.

Hello, This is so exciting! I am Pam Stephenson and I work in the US as an OT educator and enjoy working in pediatric and mental health settings. I originally trained in the UK and am interested to connect more actively with OT practitioners around the world, and to exchange ideas and learn from each other.

Hello -

I work at a Level I Trauma center in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.  Most of my experience is working with acute traumatic injuries and complex neurological disorders.  I am branching out into a whole new world, establishing a footprint in community practice - working with survivors of forced displacement (refugees).  This is an emergent practice area in its infancy in the US.  I would love to network with others who are interested in developing standards of practice in this field.

Re: Welcome to the Practice Forum

Hello,

I am in my own business www.modsolution.com and work in orthopedics, ergonomics and manual therapy. I am a Rock Tape Doc and just took the course for Rock Blades. I feel this company is very progressive in their thinking and has progressed my practice considerably. I also work in equine rehab with the Rock Tape. Treating all body parts with a focus on the spine and anatomy education for the worker/patient is a strong emphasis for me. Is anyone else interested in orthopedics??

Live in western Kansas,

Facebook, MOD Solution

thanks

Hi Jenny,

I am a 3rd year student living in Lincolnshire, England.  I am very interested in the global aspect of OTs and I would really like to understand more about the OT role with refugees or displaced persons.  I shall certainly be keeping my eyes and ears open.

Re: Welcome to the Practice Forum

Hi All

I have just completed my Degree in OT at Coventry University.  My dissertation was on the role of occupational therapy in disaster management.  I was just about to ask if anyone knew when the one-line course would be available in this subject and then spotted Kit Sinclair's post regarding disaster preparedness, response and recovery and the future online course!   I was just wondering if you knew when this course will be available?

I am just about to start my first role in the UK for NHS Care services, which is a rotational community role, which I am quite excited about.  I also have an interest in disaster management.

It has been great to read all of your posts, and I think this new forum will be a valuable resource for OT's.

Regards to you all.

Hi Rebecca
My name is Patricia Regan, and I work with adults with an intellectual disability, in a rural community setting in Ireland. Don't feel alone - if you have any topics or questions, this should be a great forum for discussion! Perhaps Paediatric OT's in the forum would be in a position to answer questions, or comment on topics, also?
