My name is Sarah and I am a current student pursuing my masters at Texas Woman's University in Texas. My husband has accepted a job in Abu Dhabi and I am looking into moving over with him once I graduate. Does anyone have any insight to any resources that would provide me with qualification requirements to work in Abu Dhabi or Dubai? Most of the job postings I see require two years of experience, would an new grad be considered?
Thank you!!

Hello OTs!
Wow this is incredible! It is so great to hear about OTs across the globe!!
My name is Stephanie and I'm a Canadian OT. I've been practicing for 7 years now in various areas of practice and loving every minute. I've worked in various practice areas in Ontario, Nova Scotia and most recently in Nunavut (it's my new favourite place in Canada!). I'm always looking for new opportunities to learn and continue to grow.
I'm currently looking to move to Japan but do not speak the language. I realize this means I cannot be licensed and wondering if anyone has any experience or advice in looking for work opportunities related to OT?
Thank you so much!!!
Cheers
Stephanie

Hi Stephanie
Hope this will find you well.I am currently based in the UK working in an elderly rehab ward. I enjoy working with the elderly. I have an experience of about 18 months post qualification. What experience is required for someone to work in Canada? I would like to relocate to Canada and work in elderly rehab or people living with mental health issues or Learning disabilities.
I would be grateful if you furnish me with some details.

I have always wanted to work overseas at some point in my career and thought I would use this opportunity to understand about the requirements and what I need to do to start the application process.

Hi Stephanie,
I am an american, who got my OT PGdip in the UK, and am currently working for the NHS in London, United Kingdom at one of the major hospitals on a rotational position. I have only just began my career, but looking to get some solid experience over 2-3 years here before moving to Canada to practice, potentially in the BC (Vancouver) area. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!!
I'm also happy to help anyone who is looking to get a job within the NHS in the United Kingdom. There is a big need for qualified OTs here!! If you take a look at the NHS jobs website, it is a great resource to narrow down where in the UK you are looking (type in the city, and range) and Occupational therapist as your profession for the job reference.
https://www.jobs.nhs.uk/
I applied to many jobs through this service and it was easy because you can use the same application for each job, just changing your cover letter slightly to reply to the job offer for the specific details. I will say, all of the jobs that offered me an interview were not offering virtual interviews as they have a practical element, so if you are not already currently located in the UK, you may have to travel for a job interview.
Thanks,
Tessa

Hey,
My name is Queen. I'm an Occupational Therapist in England, UK. I'm looking to move to Vancouver Canada in the next year or so. I was wondering if there was anyone here that had moved to Canada in the past 2 years to work as an OT or knows someone else who has done? I am looking to start the assessment process called SEAs which we have to do now before sitting the national OT exam in canada. I'm just concerned about how to prep for the Competency assessment in SEAs and also how to prep for the national OT certification exams? There are a few things on the SEAs and CAOT website but it's not very explicit. I've downloaded some past questions for the national exam but my main concern is the competency assessment in the SEAs process.
Any suggestions will be helpful.
Thanks!

Hello!
My name is Adi and I am an Occupational Therapy student studying at Queen's University, in Canada. Upon graduating, I am hoping to find work abroad. I am open to a variety of locations and settings. I am reaching out to this network of like-minded professionals regarding the process of finding work abroad and how it works logistically with your license and college requirements. Specifically, if anyone is familiar with transferring to the UK, that would be greatly appreciated. Any Canadians who have had similar experiences, I would love to connect.
This forum is a fantastic resource, and I look forward to hearing about such unique and diverse experiences.

Good Day, Everyone:
In scanning through the various posts, questions and suggestions, it strikes me that people are accessing this communication method very well!
It looks like people from around the globe are doing what occupational therapists do best: supporting and collaborating one another beautifully in problem-solving and navigating various topics on a global community basis!
Well done, Everyone!

Hello, my name is Hannah and I am a COTA living in the USA and I am going to school for my masters in OT. Are there any OTs in England, Switzerland, Sweden, Germany or Italy that can give me some insight on how it is to practice OT in your country? Also, for a foreigner, is it easy to find jobs that will sponsor my visa?
Thanks in advance,
Hannah
