Hi all,
Elma-consult this organizations website for credentialing information: https://ergotherapie.nl I have found it very helpful.
I have a very specific issue for which I seek guidance/advice:
My partner is relocating to the Netherlands in September 2026 for work. I plan to accompany him and am looking into continuing my OT career there. I a citizen of the US, 62 (soon to be 63) years old and have over 41 years experience in Neuro, TBI, ortho , acute and short term rehab w/ my most recent experience in gerontology. The Dutch BIG register and level B2+ Dutch requirements are achievable but will be time consuming and costly. Given this stage in my career it is unclear there are viable career opportunities for me in the Netherlands. If I remain in the US I plan to work for another 7 years. I have several questions to answer before I embark on the OT credentialing and
intensive Dutch language competencey process-
- Does anyone have a idea of what the job market it like in NL (Eindhoven area)?
- Would a near retirement age OT have any viable job opportunities?
- In which areas of practice are OT needed most?
- Does anyone know an OT or practice/clinic that I could connect with or even visit?
Thank you considering my questions and sharing any information or insights with me as I weigh my options.
