Greetings and happy new year everyone!
My name is Sarah and I am a licensed occupational therapist in the U.S.A who is beginning the long process of moving to Ireland (starting my CORU application, etc). My question relates to the recognition of ergonomics as a practice area in Ireland:
Context: My speciality is ergonomics, which is preventative healthcare. It's meant to prevent the need for vocational rehabilitation. An ergonomists skill set might include: building functional capacity, job demands analysis, job task assessments, assistive technology, environmental and accessible design, early intervention, accident and injury prevention and safety, job matching, workplace screenings, aging-in-place at work as well of as course program design, implementation, etc and more. Since we work at not only the level of the individual and group, but cross-organizational, we can be ideal candidates for capacity building in partnerships for programs.
If there are more jobs through the HSE in vocational rehab or aging-in-place/environmental modifications (which I suspect there are), I might start to focus more on these areas. But, if as an international applicant, if there is a chance at sponsorship in my field I would love to know.
Any insight would be appreciated! Please feel free to email at sarah@airsarah.com
Thank you!
