escanlon wroteHi Everyone- my name is Eileen Scanlon and I recently accepted an academic position at Wesley College in Dover, Delaware /United States. (This is the first program in the state of Delaware) . I first became interested in OT practice in other countries when completing my MBA. I am a certified hand therapist and read about a high volume of hand injuries due to old farming equipment in other countries and a very limited number of specialist. I am studying for my OTD at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and plan to concentrate my studies on long distance teaching to regions that do not have mentors for specialized practices including hand therapy and pediatrics.

I am currently seeking a university which offers a Master's program which focuses on OT in international contexts, specifically those lacking in resources. Can anyone offer any suggestions for which universities/supervisors offers research in this general area, please?

Thanks for your post. I cannot think of any program off hand but I will keep my eyes open. In my PhD work, I am studying OT education in places where there are fewer resources and where OT is an emerging profession. So, if you find anything, please let me know too! Are you specifically thinking about practicing in another country? I'm curious to hear more about your interests!

Are you finding that humanities can be valuable in occupational therapy education? I am finding that biographies, fiction, poetry, visual art, drama, dance and other humanities prompt thoughtful discussion about occupation, culture and human experience. I would love to hear experiences and ideas about using arts and humanities in OT education.

Hello, I am Ebrar from Turkey. I graduated in Bachelor's Degree of Occupational Therapy in 2019. OT is a new profession in Turkey. It has been here for 10 years. It is not known job. I studied at a private university. Some of my friends work in Sensory Integration at Rehabilitation Centers. Some people who graduated work as government official in Neurology, Physical Therapy, Psychiatry, Pediatry, Substance Dependence and Geriatry areas at hospitals, community mental health centers, old age asylums. Some Physiotherapists found the subject in Turkey. And we don't have enough lecturers. There are few Master programmes. It is not easy to find a job. But OT is getting to become known slowly. In addition, bacheolar's degree of OT programmes are increasing at universities especially private universities each year. So I graduated but I feel insufficient. Sometimes I feel upset.. Hello everyone, my name is Matty van Niekerk, I have been working at the University of the Witwatersrand (also known as Wits) in South Africa for 13 years as a lecturer. We have an entry-level 4-year occupational therapy degree. Wits is the oldest occupational therapy training programme in Africa. We turn 80 in 2023. We are one of 8 training programmes in South Africa.
